Students can use the Kaltura Express Capture tool inside of Canvas to screen record their presentations.

NOTE: You must use a supported web browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Opera. The Safari web browser is not supported.

Below are instructions for how to record your screen using the Kaltura Express Capture feature in Canvas.

Browse to the Canvas Dashboard
Click on your Account in the top left corner.
Click on the Kaltura My Media Link.
From the My Media Page, click on the Add New button
Select Express Capture from the drop down menu.
Click the Allow button for your web camera and microphone if prompted.
- You should now see the Express Capture recording player controls.
- TIP: You can disable the camera to record just your camera and computer screen.
Click the Camera icon in the recording toolbar and then click the toggle button to disable your camera.
Click the Computer icon in the recording toolbar and then select the toggle button to enable screen capture.
Select the Chrome Tab that you would like to screen record and click the Share button.
Click the red Record button in the recording toolbar to begin recording.
Click the red Stop button to end your recording. You should see a preview of your recording.
Click the Play button to view your recording.
Click the Use This button to save the recording.
Enter a name for your recording on the next screen.
Click the Save button to save your changes.

Below are instructions for how to embed your recording in a Canvas Assignment.

Browse to your course in Canvas to access your assignment.
Click the Start Assignment button.
In the Editor Toolbar click the Kaltura Media Embed button.
- NOTE: click the More button (three dots) to view all buttons if needed.
Click the Add from Library button.
Click the Embed button for the media entry you want to embed in your assignment.
Click the Yes button to submit your media as an assignment.
- Your recording will be added to the assignment page.
Click the Submit Assignment button when you are ready to submit.
- A copy of your video recording will be submitted for your assignment.

NOTE: you can click on the Submission Details in the top right corner or your page to view your video submission.
